The popularity of the sustainable textile and garment industry is growing as more and more people are becoming aware of the overwhelming impacts the sector has on the health and prosperity of the environment and the lives of workers, communities and consumers. Many brands are taking note of this shift and rise in consumer awareness, and therefore are responding accordingly by considering, developing and producing products which are more environmentally-friendly and socially-responsible.

Our new website, Sustainable Fashion, is designed to inform people about all sustainability- related topics in the textile and fashion industry and how sustainability works to minimize environmental impact at every level of the product lifecycle, from design to waste management and recycling, often in conjunction with the promotion of ethical manufacturing.  The website provides a platform for all individuals – manufacturers, retailers, nongovernmental organisations (NGOs), consumers and more – to share their vision and ideas on different aspects of sustainability in the textile and garment industry.

The website is part of the ongoing project entitled “Textiles: Creating a resilience -– for consumers and producers” and is financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

HEJSupport works with fashion brands, product manufacturers, NGOs and consumer associations to support actions aimed at providing comprehensive, global solutions across the textile and fashion sector with a focus on innovation, sustainability, human rights, and equity.

From environmentally-safe products manufactured in accordance with the principles of social responsibility and gender equality, to responsible fashion brands and the practice of toxic-free circular recycling of textile waste, these are only a few examples of the vast array of topics we cover on sustainability in the textile and fashion industry. We provide our readers with constant up-to-date information in order to keep all visitors and readers well aware of the ongoing new approaches addressing sustainability issues across the sector.

The website provides opportunities to learn more every day, to find answers to the most urgent questions and pressing issues, and to foster inspiration and share thoughts and ideas on how to ultimately achieve a truly sustainable textile and garment industry at the global, national and community levels. We look forward to receiving articles, data, and information from you, and we are looking forward to sharing your stories, concerns and expectations on our website.

HEJSupport is a non-profit organisation aiming to achieve a healthy environment and environmental justice for affected people. It provides long-term technical, policy and awareness-raising support for vulnerable and affected communities from both chemical contamination and associated environmental degradation. HEJSupport works to be sure these problems are heard and strives for solutions, working at the policy level to achieve a healthy environment and environmental justice globally, regionally and nationally. HEJSupport is a membership-based organisation.
